Boys & Girls Club Hosts Annual “Day for Kids”

Last Saturday the Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh joined with clubs nationwide to celebrate kids during its annual "Day for Kids."
Unlike many other countries, America does not have an official day to celebrate its children. Boys & Girls Clubs of America, along with the support of other leading youth-serving organizations, is working to change that by establishing a Saturday in September each year as Boys & Girls Clubs Day for Kids.
Krysta Murray, Director of Afterschool Programs at the Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh explained that the day was created as a way to foster relationships between adults and children.
"It’s a day to celebrate the kids in our community, bring them out and encourage families to spend time together," said Murray.
The mission of BGC Day for Kids is to establish a day to celebrate and honor American children through the gift of meaningful time. Research shows that when adults spend meaningful time with kids it helps them develop a positive self-image and a sense of belonging, usefulness and purpose.
Along with various service providers, such as Affinity Health Plan, WellCare, Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson Valley and Planned Parenthood Mid-Hudson Valley, who handed out literature and provided fun activities for the kids, there was a bouncy house, face painting and free food.
Kids were also encouraged to take part in yoga demonstrations and a Zumba class. There were two story times throughout the afternoon, after which children were given a goody bag that included books for them to take home.
Now, more than ever, BGC Day for Kids provides adults and kids an opportunity to take a break from their busy lives and celebrate the wonder of life and the fulfillment of spending time together. Or as Murray summed it up,"Overall it’s a day for everyone to celebrate being a kid, and have some fun."
Boys & Girls Clubs of America hopes to make BGC Day for Kids a permanent part of our national culture. Soon they hope the month of September not only recalls the full swing of the fall and back-to-school season, but also BGC Day for Kids, the day we devote our hearts and our minds to our children as a nation.

ON THE 4TH OF APRIL A CONSULTANT PHONED ME TO GIVE ME MORE INFO ON THEIR PRODUCTS AS PER MY REQUEST.

I WAS HAPPY WITH THE INFORMATION GIVEN TO ME. I WAS ADVISED THAT POLICY DOCUMENTS AS WELL AS MEMBERSHIP CARD WOULD BE DELIVERED TO ME. TO DATE NOTHING HAS BEEN RECEIVED. I SAID THAT ONCE IVE READ THROUGH THE POLICY AND IM HAPPY I WILL BE IN A FINANCIAL POSITION TO JOIN AS FROM jUNE 2014. THIS MORNING MY ACCOUNT WAS DEBITTED AS WELL AS THE ONCE OFF ACTIVATION FEE. WHO GAVE THEM PERMISSION TO DEBIT MY ACCOUNT NOW? THE BEST PART OF ALL IS THAT ABSA BANK CANNOT EVEN REVERSE THE UNAUTHORISED DEBIT ORDERS ON MY BEHALF!!!!!

AFFINITY HEALTH ARE *******!! IF I LOOK AT THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS FOR DEBIT ORDERS BEING TAKEN OFF WITHOUT PERMISSION ONE HAS TO WONDER ON THE INTEGRITY OF THIS COMPANY!!!

I have unsubscribed repeatedly to the mailing list (I never asked to be added to it) but yet continue to receive SPAM from Affinity health and Affinity dental regularly. This is illegal. Please remove me and never send to me again.

The consultant who sold me the medical insurance told me that I can claim all my medication back from Affinity. Only after I signed up they communicated that just some medication is covered. I asked for a list of that medication on which Vaneshree emailed me this address to use to see if the medication is covered: [URL Removed] When I put in my claim this month they did not approve it and said it is not on the covered medication list. When I questioned this and said that when I went to that link it came up as that they do cover it, the reply was that the list change all the time and is not covered anymore. I feel this is not right at all, very misleading when they explain how it works and it seems that they change the list to suit their needs to not pay what we claim for.
